Comments on Enterprise Profile Presentations
Here are some brief comments on the Enterprise profile presentations. Looking at these and remembering the presentations will help you prepare for you presentation next week.
G.O.D.
G.O.D.
Beautiful presentation design. Strong Content. Good transitions between elements. Well prepared using notes.
TVB
Good presentation design. Good quick coverage of history and ways they make money. Good review of business connections.
CAA
Be careful about reading the content on the slides. Good item connecting the various elements of the business.
Ogilvy Mather
Don't read the content on the slides. Too much detail in the history and that made the presentation run long.
ATV
Don't read the content on the slides. Too much detail in the history. Good description of relationships. I learned something from hearing this presentation.
Postgal
Good use of a storytelling angle to engage the audience. Good preview of content. Don't read the content on the slides. Came away with a good understanding of the enterprise and its business.
TBWA
Really well structured presentation and a very nice job following the guidelines and engaging the audience. Good content, informative and interesting. Still needed to edit the whole thing down to come closer to fitting the time.
Bliss
Too much time on the history. Good analysis of decision-making. Learned a lot from this presentation.
Alan Chan
Focused well and used the time well to deliver interesting content.
Leo Burnett
Presentation is full of information. Good job focusing the information in the presentation.
Many Many
Good looking presentation. Be careful reading the content on the slides. Good job on the history.
STAR
Good history. Don't hide behind the podium. Needed more information about the current business of the enterprise.
Apple
Good preview. Good history. Good use of the slides as you left me wanting to spend more time with them rather than hoping that I could get to the next slide. Great description of the brand.
YUco
Need to be sure to practice the presentation. Good coverage of the enterprise in the presentation. Good looking presentation. Lots of good information in the presentation.
XD Comm
If the information is not easily available then you need to find it in some other way. There needs to be more depth in the information.
Pill & Pillow
Good structure and Good design for the presentation. Need to be sure that all of the information is clear and understandable on its own and in connection with the other pieces of information in the presentation.
I will post the presentation order a little later.

Format for the Exam
In response to Isaac's question about the Exam.
The questions will all be open ended and require you to write a thoughtful answer. There will be no multiple choice and no true false so you will be at least answering questions with a short answer or a numerical answer.
You can bring any notes you want to the test.
You will be taking the test in the computer lab. This means that you will have access to the Internet, to class resources and to things like calculators through the computer.
I call this an OPEN WORLD test but it means that when class ends you will be finished with your exam. There will be no extra time given to complete work after the end of the class.
This also means you need to arrive on time.
Any amount of time you arrive late to class is time you will lose in taking the test.
Since you are now aware of the situation we will now meet at the Kodak computer lab on the 5th floor of CVA. Go directly to the computer lab. You will be able to start the test at 10:30 am.
The key for this test is organizing your information and managing your time. You know what I am going to ask about so you just need to answer the specific questions I give you in the amount of time that is available.

Present Like Steve Jobs
Here are the main points from the Present Like Steve Jobs Video
1. Set the Theme (What is the story you are going to tell?)
2. Provide the Outline (Where are you going to take the audience?)
3. Clear transitions between points in the outline (That's done and now we are going to...)
4. Be Passionate (Believe in what you are presenting and your knowledge)
5. Sell an Experience (Reinforce branding)
6. Use Analogies (Create a connection and context to aid the understanding of numbers)
7. Minimize Clutter (Don't put too much of anything on the screen)
8. Use Strong Visuals (Quality not Quantity)
9. Give a Show (Engage the audience is what you are presenting)
10. Have a "MOMENT." (The point in the presentation that everyone has been waiting for)
11. Rehearse, Rehearse, Rehearse (The best presenters do it and so should you)
12. ...One More Thing... (provide an encore to the presentation and leave the audience feeling good)
You should also take a good look at the Professional Presentations Flash that I showed you in class.

Human Resource Results
Here are the results of your responses to the Human Resource Survey
Mgrs Workers Class DGC other femDGC
Feeling In on Things 10 2 3 4 1 5
Full Appreciation of Work 8 1 6 6 4 5
Good Wages 1 5 2 2 3 2
Good Working Conditions 4 9 4 3 6 3
Interesting Work 5 6 1 1 1 1
Job Security 2 4 7 7 7 7
Opportunities for Growth/Promotion 3 7 5 5 5 4
Loyalty to Workers 6 8 8 8 8 8
Sympathetic to Worker Problems 9 3 10 10 10 10
Tactful Discipline 7 10 9 9 9 9
So you can see that there are some dramatic differences between what you are looking for in a job and what people around the world are seeking. This tells us that we need to take people on their own terms and do not generalize them. There were some people in the class who did not fall strictly in this scheme and all of you seem to be different from those who have participated in a 64 year study of differences between worker expectations and manager perceptions of worker expectations.

The Success Exercise
Here are my findings for the Success Exercise:
I altered some of the categories as the searching was not simple. I also checked many different resources.
The key in the search is not trusting any one source two easily. The first step is to figure out is the source is selling something that might be related to their report of the best. The second step is determine if your source is trustworthy, are they honest about how the data was found, do they talk about where there might be errors, do they footnote their statements and provide references to show they have done some research. The third step is to find multiple sources that provide the same or very similar information. The final step is to decide if the information you found is worth passing along to other people, if it doesn't feel right don't report it to others.
